In 2021, Citadel Technology Solutions (Citadeltech) was engaged to deliver the complete Audio-Visual package for the Victorian Heart Hospital (VHH)- Australia’s first dedicated heart hospital.
Located on Monash University’s Clayton campus, this facility brings together Monash Health, Monash University, and the Department of Health and Human Services.
Citadeltech was responsible for the design, coordination, and implementation of AV systems across a range of environments including clinical spaces, education areas, and conference rooms, each tailored to meet the hospital’s cutting-edge operational and teaching needs.
Citadeltech’s scope of work encompassed the design, integration, and delivery of advanced AV systems.
This included documenting design details, supplying equipment, installing and commissioning over 200 spaces, and providing on-site support for the first 12 months.
Citadeltech’s work at VHH incorporated advanced AV technologies to support clinical, teaching, and research functions.
This included:
- Integrated AV-over-IP systems networked all audio and video devices, enabling secure access to operating theatre content both hospital-wide and globally.
- Installation of Sony PTZ cameras, Shure and Audix microphones, Community loudspeakers, and Biamp DSPs to capture, process, and deliver high-quality audio and video.
- Design of intuitive, user-friendly controls with Crestron touch panels and remote monitoring to ensure seamless operation and ongoing technical support.
Valued at $7.5 million, the project covered complex operating theatres, teaching and research spaces, meeting rooms, labs, and digital signage. Citadeltech also validated all concept designs and provisional bills of material to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Citadeltech’s AV integration at VHH redefined how medical procedures, education, and global collaboration are delivered in a healthcare setting.
Despite supply chain challenges, the project exceeded the expectations of key stakeholders—Monash Health and Monash University- by enabling intuitive, networked systems that support remote access, global knowledge-sharing, and immersive, hands-on learning for future medical professionals.
This landmark project not only showcased technical excellence but also advanced heart health outcomes and medical training across Australia.
